The acronyms used as names on this site, A to Z. Each one is opened in full, with a capital letter on every word that forms it. A dossier may keep a shorter list beside its own text.

4DX: "4 Disciplines of Execution": a rhythm for tracking actions and closing what was decided.
5GDHC: "5th Generation District Heating and Cooling".
ADEME: "Agence De l’Environnement et de la Maîtrise de l’Énergie". The agency is now the Agence de la transition écologique.
ALARP: "As Low As Reasonably Practicable": stop when a further cut of risk costs far more than it helps.
API: "American Petroleum Institute".
ARENA: "Australian Renewable Energy Agency". It is the origin of the CRI scale.
ARR: "Accounting Rate of Return": a simple investment ratio.
BHA: "Bottom Hole Assembly": the tools at the end of the drill string.
COP: "Coefficient Of Performance": useful heat or cold divided by the electricity used. Also "Conference Of the Parties", the United Nations climate meeting.
CPS: "Cost Percentage to Sell". In the MLC model, the fee to change a local unit back into euros.
CRI: "Commercial Readiness Index": from a working technique to a real market.
CSRD: "Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive": the European rule on how companies report sustainability.
DFKPS: "Dynamic Focus Knowledge Page System". A small online software that reads and writes local JSON files, replacing the complex features of the software that distracted us for decades. Inspired by David JP Phillips and the TED talk How to Avoid Death by PowerPoint: one message at a time, then work from a QR code.
DLS: "Dogleg Severity": how sharply a well path turns.
EECM: "Economic, Energy and Carbon Methodology". In the geothermal dossier the same sigle is "Évaluation Énergétique des Consommations Municipales". See also GC-EECM and +EECM.
+EECM: "Évaluation Énergétique des Consommations Municipales / Massification". The plus mark adds Massification. It is the city-by-city demonstrator in the geothermal dossier.
EEZ: "Exclusive Economic Zone": the sea area of a coastal state.
EF-A3: "Étoile Filante — A3". Short name of the "Protocole Étoile Filante" (also PEF-A3): a short, focused way to run a job.
EGEC: "European Geothermal Energy Council".
EOU: "Ellipse Of Uncertainty": the ellipse around a surveyed well path.
ESG: "Environmental, Social and Governance".
FID: "Final Investment Decision": the gate where the money is committed.
GC-EECM: "Generic City — Economic, Energy and Carbon Methodology". The EngEthics interactive tool for a city.
GDPR: "General Data Protection Regulation". In French it is the RGPD.
GHG: "Greenhouse Gas".
GMI: "Géothermie de Minime Importance". On this site, one tome for cooling and one for heating.
GRE: "Glass Reinforced Epoxy": a liner or coating for pipe.
GSHP: "Ground Source Heat Pump".
HPHT: "High Pressure, High Temperature": a severe drilling class.
HSE: "Health, Safety and Environment".
IESF: "Ingénieurs Et Scientifiques de France".
IRR: "Internal Rate of Return": the rate that brings a project’s net value to zero.
ISO: "International Organization for Standardization". The short form ISO does not follow those initials.
LCC: "Local Complementary Currency". Same family as MLC.
LCD: "Low-Carbon Drilling", on this site.
LETS: "Local Exchange Trading System".
LOPA: "Layer Of Protection Analysis".
LSE: "London School of Economics and Political Science".
LTkr: "Last Tracker": shared tasks, the week’s agenda and the minutes. The product mark is LTkr.
MBA: "Master of Business Administration".
MLC: "Monnaie Locale Complémentaire". In English, a local complementary currency.
MRL: "Manufacturing Readiness Level".
MWD: "Measurement While Drilling".
NDA: "Non-Disclosure Agreement".
NPV: "Net Present Value": future money counted in today’s terms.
OBM: "Oil-Based Mud": a drilling fluid.
PARE: "People, Assets, Reputation, Environment".
PPE: "Personal Protective Equipment".
PVT: "Photovoltaic-Thermal": electricity and heat from one panel.
RGPD: "Règlement Général sur la Protection des Données". The French name of the GDPR.
ROI: "Return On Investment".
RP: "Rate to Purchase". In the MLC model, the rate to buy a local unit with euros.
SCR: "Scale of Controlled Risk".
SDG: "Sustainable Development Goal" of the United Nations.
SF: "Separation Factor": the factor between two well paths.
SOA: "State Of the Art".
SRL: "Societal Readiness Level".
SWAC: "Sea Water Air Conditioning".
TOC: "Top Of Cement" in a well.
TOTP: "Time-based One-Time Password": the code from the authenticator app.
TRL: "Technology Readiness Level", from an idea to proven use.
TVD: "True Vertical Depth".
UHI: "Urban Heat Island".
UNGC: "United Nations Global Compact".
